How it got started. Part 1
Flash back. Please bare with me.
When I was young, and still to this day, I struggled. I had awful migraines that would have my 7 year old self bawling to my mom to make it stop. Being 7, nothing regulated for pediatrician use worked. I spent days in my blacked out room with a bag of frozen veggies on my head and a bucket beside me. It was horrible. All the other kids were out playing and I'm stuck, alone in my room. I hated being alone. Worst punishment ever. And I didn't even do anything.
Now I'm 10. Still suffering with migraines, but now I take extra strength ibuprofen with Tylenol. This at least takes the edge off. I can somewhat function without the debilitating pain and nausea. The problem that soon arises, is that I took them with any kind of pain. I was so afraid of getting migraines. I ate them like they were skittles. Boom! No more problem! Until they stopped working.
Apparently, when you take an excessive amount of pills your body gets immune to them. What? Who knew. I certainly did not. So I took more. and more. And yes. My mom regulated them, but I also knew where they were located. Never stopped me from climbing on the counter with her high heels and getting them from the top shelf cabinet. Ah. yes. I was very small.
It soon became a vice.
During the summer of 4th grade, I fell, FLEW, rather off my bike. I was showing off to a boy I thought was cute. Incidentally causing me to break and dislocate my wrist. I had to have surgery and get a cast put on that went to my shoulder. I wasn't allowed to play like I normally did. I felt caged. Left out. Alone.
The Doctor said I would have some pain and just to take OTC stuff. Every time I was given something, I'd take it. With or without pain. Preventative is what I was thinking. But I needed something stronger. My headaches/migraines were getting to normalized. The pills weren't working. I got introduced to Excedrin Migraine as well. If you are unfamiliar, its basically a combo of pain relievers and caffeine.
This seemed to work like a charm. No pain and somehow made me feel alive... Remember. I was a very small child. I also wasn't allowed to have caffeine. So this, felt amazing. and I was about to develop a problem.
